FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions. If yours isn’t here, just ask.

Getting started

Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed to see a speech pathologist privately or using NDIS funding. For a Medicare rebate you need an eligible referral from your GP. Eligibility should be confirmed against the client's referral and current Medicare requirements.

How do I book?

There is no online booking. Please email or call and Juno will get back to you to talk about your needs and availability.

What ages do you work with?

Mostly children, from early communication through the school years, as well as some adults.

Do you help with feeding or swallowing?

No. Juno Speech Pathology does not offer feeding or swallowing services. Please speak with your GP about a referral to a service that does.

Fees and funding

How much do sessions cost?

NDIS rates are listed on the fees page. For private fees, please contact Juno for current fees.

Which NDIS plans do you accept?

Self-managed and plan-managed. NDIA-managed (agency-managed) plans are not currently offered.

Can I claim from Medicare or my health fund?

Possibly. Medicare may contribute with an eligible GP referral, and some private health extras policies include speech pathology. Eligibility should be confirmed against the client's referral and current Medicare requirements. Please check your cover with your fund. See Medicare and private health.

Do you charge GST?

No. Juno Speech Pathology is not registered for GST.

Sessions

Where do sessions happen?

In your home, in the community (such as kindy or school), at another agreed location, or by telehealth. See service area.

Does telehealth work for children?

It can, particularly with a parent or carer joining in. Whether it suits depends on the child and their goals. See telehealth.

Will you talk to my child’s school or other therapists?

With your consent, yes — liaison with schools, early childhood educators and other professionals is part of the service.

Privacy

How is my information stored?

Client records are kept in a secure practice system hosted in Australia (Amazon Web Services, Sydney region), with encryption and restricted access. See the privacy policy.

What should I include in my first email?

Just the basics: who the sessions are for, a general idea of what you’d like help with, and the best way to reach you. Please don’t send detailed health information or reports by email — Juno will arrange a more secure way to share them.
